Training of Community Association and Site Committees on Livelihood enhancement and Skill Acquisition

The Kano State Commissioner of Environment who is also the chairman State Steering committee of the Kano State Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project (Kano-NEWMAP) Dr. Kabiru Ibrahim Getso has urged the Community Associations and Site Committees of the Project priority communities to make a good utilisation of the knowledge gained from the training organised by the Project.

 

The Commissioner gave the advice today while declaring open the workshop organised by the Kano-NEWMAP held at the Amana Hall Central Hotel Kano.

The 2-day workshop theme is ” Training of Community Association and Site Committees on Livelihood enhancement, Employment and Skill Acquisition” anchored by team of experts from academia comprising Bayero University Kano, Kano University of Science and Technology (KUST), and Federal College of Agriculture Dambatta, under the leadership of the lead consultants Prof. Musa Tukur Yakasai.

 

The training aims at enhancing the Livelihoods of the project affected communities through integrating solutions to socio-economic and environmental challenges facing the communities.

The Commissioner further reiterated the State Government’s commitment under the leadership of His Excellency, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje (Khadimul Islam) to improving the living standards of its populace.

Speaking earlier, the State Project Coordinator Alhaji Musa Shuaibu welcomed members to the occasion and commended the participants for their timely converging at the venue for the event.

Also from the attendance included representatives from the department of Civil Engineering Kano State Ministry Work, NOA, Dr. Agric Services, the SPMU staff, members of journalists among others.
