TECHNICAL MEETING ON YANSABO WATER CONSERVATION STRUCTURES AND PROVISION OF MINOR IRRIGATION FACILITIES

To maximize attendance of critical stakeholders for the ongoing Construction of the Yansabo water conservation structures and provision of minor irrigation facilities in Tofa LGA of Kano State, the third technical meeting was held today at the Conference Hall of the Kano-NEWMAP office.

The meeting was presided over by the Chairman State Steering Committee of the Project also the State Commissioner of Environment Dr. Kabiru Ibrahim Getso.

In an efforts to fast track the construction process, stakeholders comprising the contractors and Supervision Consultants on one hand, and the Kano-NEWMAP under the State Ministry of Environment on the other hand.

Dr. Kabiru Ibrahim Getso expressed that Kano State Government under the able leadership of His Excellency the Executive Governor Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje(OFR) is really concerned about the progress of the Yansabo construction works, for the benefit of the local community.

He also enjoined all the stakeholders particularly the contractors and the Supervision Consultants to maintain a good synergy between them as a conducive environment always lightens the burden of every undertaken.

The State Project Coordinator(SPC) Alhaji Musa Shuaibu in his welcome address said that the meeting is aimed at propelling solutions to some technical issues that came up and need prompt attention to avoid unnecessary delay on the timely completion of the work.

Alhaji Musa Shuaibu further stated that the technical issues identified has been examined and is expected to be addressed by the technical team by the end of the meeting so as to pave way for the next stage of the construction activities to take place.

The SPC then urged for positive participation by member in other to overcome the problem.

On his part the team lead Sepervision Cunsultants Prof. Adie said that so far, the work has been going smoothly and successfully. But they realized certain technical issues that need to be addressed to ensure that the quality of the work is not being compromised.

He added that on their part, they have studied the situation and proposed recommendations to decide on the most feasible solution based on the unanimous agreement of the technical stakeholders.
