Kano State Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project (Kano-NEWMAP) under the leadership of the State Commissioner of Environment Dr. Kabiru Ibrahim Getso who is also the chairman State Steering Committee of the Project, participantes in the Virtual Supervision Mission Conference holding today via ” Cisco Webex” at the office Conference Hall.
The Project in Nigeria was compelled to utilize the technology as the available alternatives to deliver during the trying time of the COVID-19 pandemic, to keep in touch with stakeholders and discuss issues concerning the Project to be able to achieve its PDOs within its life span.
Participants comprised representatives of the World Bank under the Task Team Leader Dr. Amos Abu, Federal Project Management Units, State Project Management Units among others.
Essentially, the session was meant to share experiences in term of the process of implementation progress of all states, successes achieved and areas of challenges that need to be address for overall success of the Project despite the challenges posed by the predicament of the COVID-19
Activities undertaken during the conference today included, the World Bank Team Internal Meeting, Mission Overview/Implication of C-19 on NEWMAP, Overall review Implementation progress against each Project Components and States, Fudiciary Risks and Contract management report and recommendation of indepth Fudiciary review, Engineering activities, Engineering design, and Recap of the day.
