Kano State Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project Kano-NEWMAP) has participated in the Joint World Bank/ Federal Government of Nigeria Preparation Mission for the Agro Climatic Resilience in Arid and Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL), virtually from the Conference Hall of the Kano-NEWMAP

The mission aimed at deliberating on critical issues for the conception of the ACReSAL, as a project that is designed to work towards increasing adaptation to climate change resilience landscape management practices and enhance Livelihood in targeted arid and semi-arid areas.

In extension, ACReSAL will build up on the successes recorded from the NEWMAP that reach the brink of winding up, having accomplished its significant desired outcome especially in the area of reducing vulnerability to soil erosion and the increase in the vegetation cover.

Conveying the message of the Kano State Government under the able leadership of His Excellency the Executive Governor Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje at the session, the State Commissioner of Environment Dr. Kabiru Ibrahim Getso expressed the willingness of the State Government to join the ACReSAL for the benefit of its teaming populace?

The session had in attendance participants from the World Bank, Federal Project Management Unit (FPMU), State Project Management Unit (SPMU), representatives from the relevant MDAs such as NIMET, NASRDA, Federal Ministry of Environment, Water Resources, among others.
