Kano-NEWMAP has emerged the most Responsive, F\Prudent, Efficient and Best Reforestation state in the NEWMAP portfolio being the largest project in the country and Africa.

The declaration was made recently during the Closing/Valedictory Ceremony and Award Night for the Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project in Nigeria.

The activity which was held yesterday at Ladi Kwali Hall Sheraton Hotel Abuja was organized by the Federal Ministry of Environment in conjunction with the World Bank to formerly mark the end of the Project life span.

Prior to the presentation of the awards, highlights were made on how best to tidy up any loose ends with focus on achievable project closure of activities especially in the  area of Procurement, Financial Management, Environmental Safeguards, Social Safeguard and Engineering. 

The event was made in a grand style and the hosts called for the presence of all stakeholders at the Federal, World Bank, States, as well as MDAs, including the retired staff of the project whom were honoured for being part of the history of the success story of  NEWMAP in Nigeria.

The event was graced by Alhaji Abdulhadi Abdullahi a Special Assistant to the Chief Host Honorable Minister of Environment Barr. Muhammad H. Abdullah, State State Minister of Environment, delegation of the World Bank under the Task Team Leader Dr. Joy Agene, the Federal Project Management team under the National Project Coordinator Alhaji Salisu Dahiru, Project Coordinators of all the Projects Implementation Units of the 23 partipating States and their teams, senior citizens of the Project among others.
